Here’s how it is going to work! Identify a “workout buddy” from your Team. When you select your workout buddy, please record the name of your buddy on the bottom of your yardage log. Exchange contact information with your buddy, and act to motivate one another to show up and earn yardage for your Team! At the end of the week, to earn your 20 yards, we ask that you write a short statement about your experience with your “workout buddy.”

Okay, so sign-ups began on Monday for our “Football Promotion.” Up to this point, we have essentially given you NO details ~ telling you simply to DECIDE to participate. :) After a very important HUDDLE last night with the Momentum instructors and front desk ladies, we have come up with our game plan and are ready to LEAD you to VICTORY Momentum-Style!
What is Football Momentum-Style?
- STADIUM…Momentum.
- COACHES…Jay, Christy & the Momentum instructor crew.
- TEAMS…LSU led by Christy & Saints led by Jay.
- CHEERLEADERS…Yes, a game of football would not be complete without cheerleaders – Tess & Hailey have made the squad.
- RULES… All the coaches and players are aware of the rules, right?
- REFEREE…Ms. Becca Baudry will be enforcing the rules, awarding yardage/points, and also assessing penalties (she is so ready for this job, y’all!)
- SPORTS REPORTERS…out on the field taking pictures and doing interviews (we are currently interviewing for this position!)
- and most importantly PLAYERS…That’s YOU – The Momentum Member.
All sign-ups will be drafted this Sunday and assigned to their team. Team assignments (players, head coach, and assistant coaching staff) will be posted on Monday morning along with rules. Game begins MONDAY!

While this week has been a lot of fun, and I mean A LOT of FUN ~ I want to spend some time talking about what this week has really been about. ~ Breast Cancer Awareness. We partnered with Mary Bird Perkins to bring attention to this very important disease, and while donning Mohawks and TuTus may seem like a disconnect to some people, I beg to differ. Anything, and I mean anything, that brings awareness and attention to this disease is a worthwhile endeavor. And, let’s not forget the POWER of Laughter and Having Fun, having both physical and mental health benefits. After all, they do say “Laughter is the Best Medicine.”

Dr. Cecilia Cuntz, "CeCe"
surgeon here in Baton Rouge. I spoke to her one morning after our Wednesday morning (5:15am) Spinning class about this disease. Dr. Cuntz (or CeCe as she is known by around the studios here) told me that, “1 out of 8 women are diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime.” I was SHOCKED by this statistic. This means that in our last Wednesday morning Spin class, 1.25 of us will be diagnosed with breast cancer. I thought back to who was present that morning, and it really brought that statistic to life for me. Think about this y’all! Another thing she shared that really floored me – “80% of women diagnosed with breast cancer do NOT have a family history of breast cancer.” You read that correctly…80%! This means that 8 out of 10 people diagnosed with breast cancer do NOT have a family history. This is the complete opposite of what I would have thought.
Dr. Cuntz stressed this word – SCREENING! To quote her exactly, “Screening, screening, screening.” You should get your first baseline mammogram at age 35, your next one at age 40, and one yearly after that. In addition, Dr. Cuntz stated, “Monthly self- breast exams or having a friend examine your breasts SAVES LIVES.”
